GREG NORMAN SIGNATURE GOLF COURSE

New 18-hole layout one highlight of extensive renovation, expansion program

LANSDOWNE, Va. Oct. 8, 2004 -- A new Greg Norman Signature Golf Course is currently under construction and scheduled to open in July, 2005 at Lansdowne Resort, the Washington D.C. region's premier full-service resort.

The new golf course, which will join the existing Robert Trent Jones, Jr.-designed layout to provide 36 holes of championship golf, is a major aspect of Lansdowne's ongoing extensive renovation and expansion program that will enhance the resort's leisure offerings at an estimated cost of $45 mil.

While Norman has designed over 50 courses throughout the world, this is his first course in the Mid-Atlantic region (next closest is The Point Golf Club in Charlotte, NC). Norman's design philosophy is one of "least disturbance", which focuses on using the natural environment in its pristine condition. This fits Lansdowne's layout as the new course runs along the banks and floodplains of the Potomac River. The course is planned to impact only half an acre of wetlands yet will create wetland enhancement of eight to 10 times that amount.

The 7,400-yard course features a front nine that runs east along the Potomac River, parallel to holes 14, 15 and 16 of the RTJ II course, while the back nine comes back west along the river towards Goose Creek. The final four holes measure exactly 1,760 yards (equal to one mile) making it, according to Norman, the hardest mile in golf.

"That is", says Norman, so an announcer will have the opportunity to say "now they are getting down to the hardest mile in golf".

Norman mentions announcers because he has designed the Lansdowne course with the ability to host future tournaments, incorporating into the layout spectator-access easements, space for TV compounds, and many other features seen at several of his other courses around the world that routinely host tournaments. Some of Norman's other tournament courses include the TPC at Sugarloaf in Duluth, Ga., home of the PGA Tour's BellSouth Classic; the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, host site of the PGA Tour-sanctioned Franklin Templeton Shootout; and The Grand Golf Club in Queensland, Australia, site of the 2001 Australian Open.

A championship caliber course is the highlight of The Golf Club at Lansdownes additions, but certainly not the only feature making it one of the finest golfing destinations in the Mid-Atlantic. Opening at the same time as The Norman Course is an expansive clubhouse, which will evoke memories of an inviting, country manor home, and will feature an elegant 4,200-square-foot ballroom, restaurant and bar, spacious mens and womens locker rooms and a well-equipped golf shop. The new clubhouse will be an ideal spot for meeting after golf or hosting various social functions. Norman also is designing a more forgiving nine-hole short course, perfect for junior golfers and families, which will open in October 2005.

Other changes to Lansdowne Resort include a complete redesign of all 305 guest rooms and public spaces, due to be completed in February, an expansive multi-pool water complex in May, while in 2006 Lansdowne will add a 12,000 square-foot addition to the spa.
